Meet Dr. Brendan Sotomayor

Certified CIRS Physician

Dr. Brendan Sotomayor was born and raised in the Chicagoland suburbs where he graduated from Carl Sandburg High School. He then obtained a BS in Integrative Physiology with a minor in chemistry from the University of Iowa. Missing home, Dr. Sotomayor came back to Chicago where he attended medical school at Loyola University Chicago’s Stritch School of Medicine. There, he learned to “treat the human spirit” and matched into an emergency medicine residency program at Resurrection Medical Center. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine (MD) in 2019 and first worked in Northwest Indiana where he practiced board certified emergency medicine in a busy emergency room treating critical patients from low-income areas. Although Dr. Sotomayor lived a healthy lifestyle, he began to become ill shortly after starting his career in the ER. Following his never-ending thirst for knowledge and the truth, he began to search for the root cause of his illness. This journey led him to being diagnosed with Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) a year later. Shortly after, Dr. Sotomayor was drawn to the Driftless region of Southwest Wisconsin to practice medicine and set up a regenerative organic restorative farm. There, he practiced in the Viroqua, Wisconsin emergency room. While treating patients, Dr. Sotomayor began to understand firsthand how prevalent CIRS was in the medical system and saw a tremendous need for treatment of these patients. Thus, he pursued training in the Dr. Shoemaker protocol and decided to open his own online practice, Nuerth (New-Earth) Medicine, so he could start to fill this incredible need for physicians proficient in the diagnosis, treatment and cure of CIRS.

The Journey Towards Health Begins with awareness.

What is Nuerth Medicine?

Nuerth (new· earth) Medicine offers a unique personalized approach to healthcare. We understand the importance of every patient’s story and each of their unique circumstances that affect their medical journey. We Specialize in treating patients with Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) and mold illness using peer reviewed published literature and the Shoemaker protocol. In addition, we have expanded our clinic to see and care for many neurodegenerative diseases that commonly overlap with underlying innate immune system dysfunction seen in chronic inflammatory response syndrome. Here at Nuerth Medicine, we utilize precision and integrative medicine to produce cutting edge medical care that works.

How do you know if you might have CIRS/mold illness?

The prevalence of CIRS is quite high. About 22-24% of the population has the genetic susceptibility to develop this condition and it often presents with a multisystem, multisymptom illness.  Many patients have been misdiagnosed with a multitude of different illness, when in reality, their root cause illness is actually CIRS.

If you have been told you have:

Dementia, parkinsons, multiple sclerosis, ALS, cognitive decline, tremor, other neurodegenerative disorders, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, lyme disease, chronic lyme disease, post-covid syndrome (covid long-haulers syndrome), vaccine injury, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, ADD, ADHD, depression, anxiety, suicidality, rageful episodes, other psychiatric disorders, insomnia, postural orthostatic tachycardic syndrome (POTS disease), adrenal fatigue, IBS, mast cell activation syndrome, systemic exertion intolerance disease, multiple chemical sensitivity, chronic migraines, pulmonary hypertension, etc

Then, you may have CIRS.
